Vanlife in Lofoten
June 5 - 10, 2025
6 days
Type of adventure
We will drive through Lofoten in beautifully renovated Volkswagen T3 vans, built between 1982 and 1989, and now restored here in Lofoten to a lovely pastel look. The vans are fully equipped with everything you need for the trip – you just need to bring your own clothes. Please note that these are vintage vehicles, so each van has its own personality.
Physical form
On this trip, we will go on three hikes that will be relatively short (2-3 hours) but demanding. We will walk at a pace that everyone can keep up with, but it does require that you have some experience in getting your heart rate up and breaking a sweat. You will need to carry a daypack with water, snacks, and extra clothing/rain gear.
Transport to Lofoten
We start and end the trip in Svolvær, so we recommend flying round-trip to Svolvær Airport. A cheaper alternative is to fly to Bodø and take the ferry to Svolvær, which takes about 3 hours. Since it can be a long journey, it may be necessary to arrive in Bodø the day before we meet.
Arrival & departure
We will start the journey in Svolvær at Lofoten Vanlife, where we will pick up and distribute the vehicles together at 3 PM on June 5. The location is only 5 km from Svolvær Airport. After that, we will drive together to our first accommodation. The trip will conclude again at Lofoten Vanlife at 10:00 AM on June 10.

Our adventure begins when we arrive in Svolvær. Here, we will pick up our vans and be introduced to the colorful vehicles that will take us through this journey! We will meet at Lofoten Vanlife at 3 PM, after which we will drive together to that day's accommodation. We will conclude the day with a welcome dinner under the open sky.
After a magical night under the midnight sun, we will drive towards Offersøykammen, where we will enjoy a hike with spectacular views. We will continue with a delightful lunch visit at 'Polarhagen', where we will also be introduced to the fascinating and organic garden run by Danish Parsa and his Norwegian wife, Lisa. Following that, there will be some free time, during which we recommend visiting the old town of Nusfjord, which is on the way to that day's campsite.
The day begins with a challenging hike to Reinebringen, where the view from the top will take your breath away. After conquering Reinebringen, we will explore the charming town of Reine and enjoy a local culinary experience at Annitas Sjømat, a five-generation restaurant (at your own expense). Following that, there will be some free time again. We recommend renting kayaks in Reine and embarking on a beautiful guided kayaking tour into Reinefjorden.
We will drive from today's accommodation to Haukland Beach, which has been voted Norway's most beautiful beach multiple times and recognized by Lonely Planet as one of Europe's finest. After a lovely hike, we will continue to Unstad, where we will enjoy what may be the world's best cinnamon rolls at Unstad Arctic Surf.
Our last full day offers a visit to the charming town of Henningsvær, where there will be time to explore the cozy local shops and small cafes. The day is rounded off with an arctic sauna and spa experience under the midnight sun.
It's time to say goodbye to the vans and Lofoten. We will return to Svolvær and hand over our vehicles at 10 AM.

Girlpower – 6 days & 6 mountains North Away ApS gets my warmest recommendations! It was an absolutely fantastic week, filled with amazing nature experiences, the most beautiful views, big smiles, lots of laughter, great energy, and, above all, a wonderful sense of community. The trip was well-organized, and it’s definitely not the last time I’ll be going to Lofoten! And it’s certainly not the last time I’ll be using North Away either 😄✨
